I bought TickrMeter back

I bought TickrMeter back
You may have noticed that TickrMeter has been very quiet for a long time. and not the “we are working on something exciting” quiet more like “is anyone still alive over there?” quiet.

So let me explain !

I started TickrMeter with the launch of the original Indiegogo campaign. After that, went on the Danish version of Shark Tank, the idea was foolproof in my head: use the investment to buy more products in advance, because hardware is extremely cash intensive.

However, the funds could not just be spend on inventory. With it came a lot of caveats on what to spend on.

The company ended up with a much heavier setup than what the funds was even close to supporting. I had to bring in several people, a marketing team, developers. This structure was very far from the lean method TickrMeter was built on. I was strongly against a lot of this spending, because I knew the money needed to go into products, stock, support, and keeping deliveries moving. But at this point I was not in charge. The result was that money went into wages and overhead instead of enough products. Deliveries became slower, support became worse, and the whole thing kept spiraling. That is also why there has been such a long silence.

A few months ago, I decided to use my own savings to buy the TickrMeter assets back and keep the servers alive. Which is a strange feeling, because buying back something you created yourself is not exactly the business strategy they teach you about in school.

But I still believe in it.

There are more than 50,000 TickrMeter devices out there, the servers are still running, and I believe there is still huge potential in the product, the platform, the community, and what TickrMeter can become next.

That process has now been completed, and I have regained control of the brand, platform, devices, software, and my goal now is to rebuild TickrMeter properly.

I also know that some customers have waited far too long, and I am not going to pretend that did not happen. Restarting from scratch means support is still limited, currently handled by myself and one support agent, and producing the next batch will require new capital and careful planning. But I will do my best to communicate clearly and work through things step by step.

I am rebuilding TickrMeter it and this time the plan is simple: KEEP IT LEAN, spend money where it actually matters (on products and development), and make TickrMeter better than before.

Anyways now you know why there had no posts etc. More updates will follow soon.

Thank you to everyone who has supported TickrMeter over the years.
